A standout feature is the 30-acre ATV Intensive Use Area (playground) near Almena on the Cattail Trail Extension — one of the only dedicated ATV playgrounds in northwest Wisconsin. Trail Systems

Cattail Trail

Easy8 mi

8-mile trail originating in Almena and continuing west to the Polk County line, where it continues to Amery for a total of approximately 22 miles. Open to ATVs year-round. The entire trail is also open to horseback riding, walking, and bicycling.

Cattail Trail Extension

Easy16 mi

16-mile trail from Almena east to Cameron. Approximately 2.5 miles east of Almena features a 30-acre ATV Intensive Use Area (playground) — one of the most unique ATV facilities in the region. The trailhead has a 3-acre parking lot with loading/unloading ramp, large shelter, picnic tables, and permanent restrooms. Closed November 1 through May 1 for ATV use — open to snowmobiles during snow season.

Wild Rivers Trail (Barron County Section)

The Barron County section of the 96-mile Wild Rivers Trail begins in Rice Lake and continues north through Washburn and Douglas Counties to Solon Springs. Open year-round to ATVs and snowmobiles along the abandoned railroad grade.

Silver Creek Trail
