Burnett County offers one of the most extensive ATV/UTV trail systems in northwest Wisconsin with three distinct seasonal systems: 63 miles of summer trails, 100 miles of frozen ground trails, and 138 miles of winter trails. Additional road routes connect to neighboring Washburn, Polk, and Douglas Counties. This is home to your Triangle in the Woods cabin on Lipsett Lake — guests can access trails directly from the area.

Summer ATV/UTV Trail System
63 miles of dedicated summer ATV/UTV trails on Burnett County Forest land. Open from the Friday before Memorial Day through September 15. All trails marked with green blazers.

Frozen Ground ATV/UTV Trail System
100 miles of trails open September 16 through November 30 when the ground is frozen. Riders may use existing snowmobile trails, fire lanes, and logging roads (minimum 8 feet wide) on Burnett County Forest land. Trails marked with green blazers. Multi-use trails shared with licensed street vehicles during this period.

Winter ATV/UTV Trail System
138 miles of winter trails open December 1 through March 31 once trails are officially open. Includes the Gandy Dancer Trail which is only open December 1 through March 31. Snowmobile trails marked with orange blazers, winter ATV trails marked with blue blazers. ATVs under 900 lbs may ride groomed snowmobile trails.

Rules & Regulations
- All ATVs/UTVs must be registered or licensed
- Summer trails open Friday before Memorial Day through September 15
- Frozen ground trails open September 16 through November 30 (frozen ground required)
- Winter trails open December 1 through March 31 once officially open
- Gandy Dancer Trail open to ATVs/UTVs December 1 through March 31 only
- Speed limit 30 MPH maximum on all ATV trails
- Off-road motorcycles and unlicensed vehicles NOT allowed on Burnett County Forest land
- All county roads open to ATVs/UTVs EXCEPT County Highway A from State Hwy 35 to Kilkare Road
- Contact individual townships for town road rules
- Closed April 1 through Friday before Memorial Day — all county forest lands
- Closed during Red Flag Fire Alerts or when trails are gated/signed closed
- Non-resident trail pass required
- Operators born after Jan 1 1988 and age 12+ must have ATV safety certification
